Description

BLOSSOMS video lessons are enriching students' learning experiences in high school classrooms from Brooklyn to Beirut to Bangalore!

Check out the library of 150+ STEM lessons and videos designed to foster critical thinking skills in High School students, or participate in the BLOSSOMS@HOME weekly challenges!

Visit the BLOSSOMS Video Library anytime to browse and download lessons to use in your classroom. Every lesson is a complete resource that includes video segments, a teacher’s guide, downloadable hand-outs and a list of additional online resources relevant to the topic.

Weekly Challenges

Week 1 | Pythagorean Theorem (Released March 23)

Week 4 | Coronavirus Math Games (Released April 13)

Week 5 | Do We Really Comprehend Avogadro’s Number? (Released April 20)

Week 6 | The Power of Exponentials, Big and Small (Released April 27)

In response to the COVID-19 disruptions in education, Professor Larson and the BLOSSOMS team are creating a series of challenges for young learners. These challenges require learners to:

  • Look at and think about two MIT-produced BLOSSOMS video lessons,
  • Try to answer questions posed within the videos
  • Write a short essay addressing the new questions we pose here.

Total estimated time to do all these things: An afternoon!

Send Professor Larson and the MIT BLOSSOMS team your short (<300 words) essay and they will respond with comments and feedback! If enough interest is shown for Week 1 the BLOSSOMS team will develop other weekly projects on different topics in science, mathematics and engineering!

Cost? Zero! Benefits to you – learning new things in STEM, not by rote memorization from lectures and textbooks, but by your own active learning, discovery, refection and analysis!
