Online Pedagogy Workshop

Description

We recently had a workshop on online pedagogy in MIT's program in Comparative Media Studies and Writing. The workshop shared thoughts on using Zoom and other tools for synchronous teaching, and some ideas on using asynchronous tools as well. While the workshop focused on MIT, we thought these materials might be useful to others as well.

Grades:
Professors, Teachers

We recently had a workshop on online pedagogy for faculty and staff in MIT's program in Comparative Media Studies and Writing (CMS/W).  The workshop was led by Professor Eric Klopfer, Laura McKee (lecturer in CMS/W) and Meghan Perdue (Digtal Learning Fellow).  CMS/W includes our programs in media ranging from film to games, science writing and education.  The workshop was focused on helping MIT faculty and lecturers get ready for teaching online.  We thought some of these materials might be useful to other teachers, professors and lecturers seeking to teach online as well.

We're including the main two resources that we used:

  • Here is the slide deck we used in Google Slides.
  • And here is an FAQ handout.

We hope you find them useful.
