To The Moon To Stay

Description

The MIT To the Moon to Stay team challenges K-12 students to design a future lunar habitat or village.

We encourage you to be creative! Show us what this habitat will look like, how it’s built, what technology it will require, and/or what everyday life will look like for the people who live there.

Topics:
Engineering, Science, STEAM, Technology
Grades:
3-5, 6-8, 9-12, K-2
We are going to the Moon — but this time, to stay. We want YOU to help inspire MIT’s efforts to send an experiment to the Moon!

The MIT To the Moon to Stay team challenges K-12 students to design a future lunar habitat or village. We encourage you to be creative! Show us what this habitat will look like, how it’s built, what technology it will require, and/or what everyday life will look like for the people who live there.

Digital or scanned submissions should be formatted as a Zine, a 6-page booklet created from a 8.5x11” piece of paper, which can include text, drawings, or collages

Submissions will be judged in four separate grade categories:

  • Kindergarten - 2nd grade
  • 3rd grade - 5th grade
  • 6th grade - 8th grade
  • 9th grade -12th grade

We encourage independent submissions from students, and we also encourage educators and parents to facilitate student submissions by incorporating these challenges as activities. We look forward to seeing your zines!

Documents should be scanned and submitted via the To the Moon to Stay website. All submissions are due by Saturday, April 18. For questions, please email tothemoon@mit.edu

To the Moon to Stay is a partnership between MIT’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics and the Media Lab’s Space Exploration Initiative.
